Welcome to Greenland
The area of Greenland - in total an area of 836.000 square miles - is dominated by the inland icecap, but along the edge of this icecap exists an ice-free zone with a total area of about 158.000 square miles (more than the total area of Germany). In this zone You will find an Arctic landscape with only a low vegetation but rich in rocks and steep cliff sides - often scrubbed clean and rounded by the ice cover of former times.
This wilderness offers an unique nature experience, and yes, an often almost unreal beauty that can be hard to grasp.
